One year!!!

Yeay!

It’s one year to the day when I created and published the very first Happysad cartoon. Looking back, I feel I’ve come an amazingly long way. When I see the first batch of HS cartoons, the crude style they were drawn in, I sometimes cringe and get the urge to do them all over again… But that would be tantamount to revisionism, so let’s just look back at them with an endearing smile.

It’s amazing what Happysad has become. Going back through the archives I found at least three instances where I was about to give up because I thought my inspiration had run dry. Yet somehow Happysad has started living a life on its own, and sometimes I feel like I’m just a witness to where it’s all going.

I want to thank everyone who has encouraged me by writing all those nice comments. You really have no idea what a profound influence Happysad has had on me.

  1. Congratulations!
And you’ve got no idea upon the impact of HappySad upon some of us, readers…
You express what some of us feel, but can’t even talk about it, ’cause we don’t know how. And we’re struggling with these ideas…. and then you come with a beautiful cartoon….
Happy Birthday, HappySad! Thank you, Jerome.

  2. Happy Birthday!
Thanks for your great cartoons. It’s like Alex says: sometimes you draw what’s stuck in my head or heart. Sometimes I can’t find the words to express an emotion to someone, but then I send them one of your cartoons and it all becomes perfectly clear.
Thanks for being my medium :oD
