It’s not easy either way. I’m one of those downright sweet sorts, and then other times I think I’m a victim of wanting to have my cake and eat it too – “I don’t want you, but I really want you to be my friend”
It never goes down well.

I don’t get it, – what is the point having cake if you can’t eat it too??

I never have understood that phrase …I don’t know why I even used it …I’m completely confused by it.

“No, i don’t like you” hurts, but a little less, because it sounds sincere and honest.
It says that you care enough to tell me the truth but, well, not all people are meant to be together.

Any other made up excuses sound more like “No, i don’t like you, and i think you’re such a moron that you wouldn’t be able to handle reality”.

And no, saying “no” and then asking me to go on holiday together doesn’t work.

I always end up doing the awkward “Oh I’d rather be alone right now….” Which seems to backfire. Quite often.

autumn is right, you can’t say “no” and not hurt another person. We can’t avoid it. (…but if someone has a clue “how to do it”…you know, maybe just share with rest f us :D)
