  1. We are but the sum of our experiences. To deny your experiences is to deny yourself.

Absolutely brilliant cartoon again! Definitely one which strikes a cord and has a very deep meaning. A keeper.

  2. Letting go of your past self is not the same as denying it. The whole point of a new self is that it is still you (If you want to get in deeper, the new self-concept will be just as much not you as the one you already have now). It would be best if you didn’t care at all, but if you do, change is good.

  3. The word profound is overused. However, that was actually quite profound. I really feel what you’re getting at with this one. Deceptively simple.

  4. Sad but true.

That’s why the ego is the most reviled thing in any enlightened metaphysical thought.

Yet in America we worship the ego like there is no tomorrow, making it even more difficult to shed the garbage of our egos and let that which is deeper shine through.

I should add that this guy’s style of drawing really fits the theme.

  5. Great concept that displays the human condition clearly.

Remember that the person that you are now is a result of all the previous states that you were in before. You have never been completely static in your views or standpoints. Since you were born due the numerous experiences that you have had have shaped who you now are.

To deny the possibillity of further change is an addiction caused by the ego . Never worry about becoming someone new as progress and possibility is part of your nature.

  6. The creator of this cartoon is a sappy douche, though the people who comment on it are even more pathetic. Please kill yourselves so I never again have to hear about how special we all are. Thanks.

  7. Found this through Stumble upon and quite frankly, it pisses me off. I mean, this is just stupid. If you change yourself to be a better person, that doesn’t make you not “yourself” – it just makes you a better VERSION of yourself. It’s not that hard to figure out!

This is just an excuse people use when they’re too lazy to fix their own faults. I’ve dealt with people like this before and they’re annoying as hell. And think about it… if everyone just gave up and acted however badly they wanted, then blamed it on “just being themselves,” what would the world be like? Terrible, that’s what.

I for one plan to better myself as I grow, not stubbornly refuse to change for no reason. I hope others can grow some balls and do the same :|

  8. Not changing yourself is because your to lazy. this is pathdic and for dumbasses who think “Oh. im a terrible person but thats who i am” people like that are worthless. this would be a better place if people tried to better themselfs, not be lazy hunks of crap who make exscuses all the time.

  9. Its true.
If people don’t change, then that really is wrong. People change whether they like it or not. its not a choice its something that happens. So you not changing would be like you having the same plate of food over and over and over again. You’ll get sick of it and want to quite. And even then you change for the reason that you have gotten tired of having the same thing again. So change is inevitable. It will happen whether you want it or not. But the thing to do is when it does happen its up to you to decide if its good or bad and work from there. When change comes along make the best of it and face it. Don’t hide behind yourself. If you do this then your one small step closer to a wise and straight up person.
