To love and be loved is the most amazing thing in existence but seems to elude so many.

that’s hard. I suppose its worse to love and not be loved back… but then i’m more used to that one!!
Well, this reminds me of the book Of Human Bondage by Somerset Maugham. The main character is in an unrequited love relationship similar to the happysad dude. Eventually, he finds out that a one sided love is meaningless. So in other words, they are both equally important. Love that is unreturned is painful and excruciating. Likewise, being selfish and greedy by withholding your love also deteriorates one soul.
