Thanks but no thanks

Just another reminder: please do not add any (more) individual cartoons to StumbleUpon, I’m getting more than enough traffic already, thank you very much.

  1. So… am I to assume you have a problem with the increased traffic? As a new subscriber to your comic feed – I’m not sure what to think about that.

  2. I have an idea for you! add a little code to your site that detects where the visits are referred by, and if it’s stumbleupon, add a few advertisements. That way it’ll cover your additional hosting expense with a little bonus for you too.

and hey, some of those visitors might convert to subscribers :)

this guy does a decent job of explaining how to get the referrer page using javascript: http://www.codeave.com/javascript/code.asp?u_log=7003

  3. Again, I’m a cartoonist, not a coder. But thanks to my wonderful fan Jrf I do have a trick up my sleeve now. I’m just not applying it… yet. To clarify: I have NO problem with SU sending me traffic, knowing many of them stuck around (hi!). So I wouldn’t want to block it altogether. BUT with every additional cartoon fed into the Big Indiscriminate SU Machine, the traffic gets multiplied. Then things get a bit out of control. Hence my humble request.

  4. Dear Jim Robert,
You are an ass. Just because we were referred to this website by SU we deserve more ads? I think not.

Also, I must admit my first reaction to seeing this page was to give it a thumbs up…

Also also, I dislike feeds and subscriptions. My chances of revisiting your website if it wasn’t for the occasional stumble are slim to none. Not saying too much traffic is not a problem, just trying to raise the other side of the issue.

  5. Itamar, you’re a jerk. No need to insult. This site is cool enough. If you’re going to be negative, then stop coming back. No one want’s a party pooper.

PS: I love this comic. It’s so cute!

  6. jaye, if there is no need to insult, why call itamar a jerk? i agree with him. i stumbled here, and would prefer as much adds as everybody else, or less.
